About The Founder

The Founder of the Sathya Sai Education in Human Values Program is Sathya Sai Baba (1926-2011). He was a renowned educator, humanitarian, social reformer and World Teacher. Though he lived in India, his work has inspired ongoing educational, medical and service projects across the globe. His projects are unique and targeted towards transformation of the self, family and society. They are based on the universal values that form the foundation of the world’s major religions: Truth, Righteousness, Peace, Love and Nonviolence.

The following words – “Love All, Serve All”; “Help Ever, Hurt Never” best summarize his life and his teachings.

Sathya Sai Baba placed great emphasis on education the end of which he saw as “character”. He established a model education system in India, which includes primary schools, secondary schools, and an accredited university with three campuses, offering undergraduate, Masters, and Ph.D. degrees. No fees are charged to students, and admission is open to all.

His unique educational program aimed at integrating values in an innovative way into the school curriculum was started in 1969. Since then Sathya Sai Schools have been established across the globe, together with a network of Sathya Sai Institutes, established to promote and support the goals and aims of Sathya Sai Education with particular attention to teacher training. The schools and universities that bear his name are renowned for their academic excellence and high moral and ethical standards.

In his words, “Just as two wings are essential for a bird to fly high in the sky, two wheels for a cart to move, so too the two types of education are needed for man to attain the goal of life. Spiritual education is for life, whereas worldly education is for a living. Only when man is equipped with these two aspects of education, can he be deserving of respect and adoration in society.”
