The Sai Institute of Education West Indies (SIEWI) in partnership with the Institutes of Sathya Sai Education (ISSE) in USA and Canada, (operating under the auspices of the Education Committee of the Sathya Sai International Organisation, which provides guidelines for the 28 Institutes of Sathya Sai Education and 39 Sai Schools) will be hosting an International Conference on Strengthening Values Education on October 12-14th 2023 in Barbados. The Conference will embrace seventeen Caribbean countries, comprising fifteen of the Caribbean Community, as well as Curacao, N.A., and St. Maarten.
Over the past 50 years, Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) has been implemented in over 120 countries worldwide and is achieving significant success in transforming individuals, families, schools, workplaces, and communities. The programme is a human values-centred programme for character development. It is designed to draw out, accentuate and nurture positive qualities and capabilities. It is based on the philosophy of Educare which means ‘to draw out that which is already within’. The SSEHV Programme has received international awards for its efficacy and proven holistic effectiveness. The programme is flexible and readily adaptable to all cultures and conditions.
The Conference will illustrate and emphasize the efficacy of the SSEHV Programme and will directly engage Ministers of Education, Permanent Secretaries, Principals/Teachers as well as stakeholders from civil society from both the private and public sector over three days.
The Conference Goals are to increase awareness of the need to strengthen the practice of human values in the home, schools, workplace and the community-at-large and to initiate a Plan of Action which will provide each country with the opportunity to embed human values into the educational system and community programmes through professional training courses and workshops coordinated between SIEWI/ISSE in collaboration with each participating country. The training will enable the sustainable development of a cadre of SSEHV Certified practitioners and deliverers of the programme.
The Mission of Institutes of Sathya Sai Education is to enhance and extend the applied understanding of universal human values. The Institutes model best practices in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on the experiential learning and constant practice of human values. We also sponsor and engage in professional training courses and workshops that encourage state and local education agencies, institutions of higher education and community agencies to promote and implement human values education along with their existing programme and/or curriculum.
The SIEWI/ISSEs collective efforts, courses, training, and technical resources globally are offered free of any charge. Our objective is to collaborate with local partners to provide the information and tools for the transformation of the character of those served through the SSEHV Programme.
This International Conference on Strengthening Values Education is in alignment with and in support of the United Nation’s mandate for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for 2030 with respect to Education. Hence the SSEHV Programme will enable member countries of the United Nations to help fulfill their international commitment to meeting their SDG goals by 2030 if they so choose.
Attendance at the Conference is free of charge however participants will be required to cover their own transportation and accommodation costs. More information will be provided soon.
