The Sai Institute of Education West Indies (SIEWI) is part of a worldwide network of educational institutions. Their primary goal is to facilitate the growth of all-round human excellence in all situations: home, school, in the workplace and the community. The SIEWI is a non-profit organization which was established in 2004. It has three chapters; they are Trinidad, Barbados and Guyana.
The SIEWI is a body established and directly accountable to the Sathya Sai International Organisation Education Committee (SSIO EC).
The SIEWI was inaugurated in 2004. It has been involved in promoting Sathya Sai Education for more than twenty years. Prior to its inauguration, it was actively involved in promoting values under the banner of the Education in Human Values Society of Trinidad and Tobago.
In both Trinidad and Tobago and in Barbados where there was a branch of the Society as well, partnership with the Ministry of Education in both territories for over a decade resulted in hundreds of public- school teachers being trained in delivery of the Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) Program. Teachers and school administrators were exposed to the program in Curacao and Guyana as well.
The SSEHV Program cultivates and promotes human values that are common to people of all cultures and creeds. In its broadest sense, it initiates a life-long transformational process through self-effort that not only develops skills for earning a living but also develops a wholesome character. Furthermore, it seeks to strengthen the relationships among the individual, the society, the family and the whole of creation. This focus makes it of interest to persons from all walks of life. It has attracted professionals from fields such as education, economics, management, medicine and the social sciences worldwide.
